What does Self Growth Really Mean?

I think there's a true mis-conception about self growth.

Let's get into what it's not.

Self growth is not fitting as many things as possible into every second of every minute of every day. Self growth is not using a daily planner everyday and trying to check off as many things as possible. Self growth is not making the most money in the world, having the huge house, or super expensive cars. Self growth is not being done up 24/7. Self growth is not even getting to a point where everything in life is all sunshine and rainbows, because let's be honest, this is real life, and there will be obstacles we have to overcome.

Now, what I will say is, some of these things may be the result of self growth. It may be something that you reap as a benefit from committing to self growth. But these things and actions in itself is not self growth. So now that we've gotten that out of the way, we can get into what it actually is.

Think of the term in two separate words, Self and Growth. It is growth of self. To grow into the most authentic version of youself. To get to know yourself better, you figure out your true desires, gifts, and values. Self growth is all about YOU.

Many people jump into these "self growth journies" and can never really commit to it. That's because they've decided that their journey should look like someone elses. We go on social media and see all these people set goals for themselves on their own journies and think that we should have the same goals. When the truth is, not only are we all not in the same place, but we're also not even going to the same destination. So why would your journey look like someone elses?

Just because someone started using a daily planner to plan their day hour for hour and it works for them doesn't mean it will work for you. Maybe you're more productive just planning the week or in blocks because it gives you more flexibility. Just because someone lost weight simply by fasting and lifting weights doesn't mean that exact method will work for you. Maybe you need to focus on a calorie deficit and simply walking 5,000 to 10,000 steps a day to reduce stress on your joints and hormones. Point is, your journey, and the "best version of yourself" that you want to grow into simply requires you to do the things work for you and are true to you.

That's why I created self growth junkie. Not to just be another personal development brand that tells you exactly what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. But to empower you to figure out things you need to do that work and are true to you.

Self Growth Junkie is not about becoming the perfect woman, or even the "perfect" version of yourself. It's about getting closer to, or rather growing into your most authentic self so you can building a truly joyous, fulfilling life.
